It has long been known that what you eat can directly affect your mental health. Certain foods are simply better for mental well-being and eating these foods more often can help with anything from depression to panic attacks.

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate has long been considered a mental health food. Rich in Flavonoids a type of antioxidant, which can boost memory and mood levels. However, needs to be consumed in small amounts due to its high sugar content.

Salmon

Because of its high amounts of Omega-fatty acid, Salmon has been linked to helping conditions such as depression it naturally occurring vitamin D can also lower your rates of anxiety.

whole grains

Many foods contain whole grains which are high in carbohydrates. It also contains Tryptophan ( an amino acid ) which can reduce both anxiety, depression, and overall brain function.

Berries

Rich in minerals such as manganese, and berries are helpful for making you less prone to anxiety and depression.

Yogurts

The probiotics found in yogurt are good at assisting in lowering stress, anxiety, and depression. Eating yogurt on a daily basis can be beneficial in its overall effects on our wellbeing.

Conclusion

The benefits of a healthy diet include the right nutrients you can often eat your way to a healthy mind as well as a healthy body. A correct diet can be more than just a matter of taste.
